Gratitude Stories: Joe’s 52nd Birthday

“Sometimes we should express our gratitude for the small and simple things like the scent of the rain, the taste of your favorite food, or the sound of a loved one’s voice.”

This week, we’re psyched to introduce Suzanne and her husband Joe. Joe is quite the family man and it’s great hearing him get the love and praise he deserves.tribute-line

Why did you think it was a good idea for this person to receive a Tribute?

Suzanne (Wife): At this point in our lives we really don’t need any more material “stuff.”  I wanted to give a gift that would have meaning and create a lasting memory.  I also love the fact that the Tribute video can be viewed at anytime as it will be fun to watch it again in the future and re-live the memory.

What is your favorite thing about this person?

Suzanne: Joe is the most caring and giving person I know.  He always puts his family first.  He is a true friend and an amazing husband.

What were the circumstances when they received their Tribute? (ie. Where, When, How?)

Suzanne: It was my husband’s 52nd birthday and we surprised him with the Tribute video.  After dinner we wanted to watch a movie so I turned on our Apple TV and instead of starting the movie I went to YouTube to bring up the video – he was so surprised and very emotional as we watched the 20-minute Tribute.  It was great viewing it on the TV.

What was their reaction while watching their Tribute?

Suzanne: We all had a great time watching the Tribute.  Most of his family lives out of town so the fact that everyone had sent in a brief message was very cool and definitely made my husband feel loved and appreciated.  Lots of laughs and a few tears!

How did this make you personally feel?

Suzanne: I was thrilled with the end result and very happy I could almost effortlessly put together such a special and memorable gift.  The entire process was really fun and I especially loved viewing the videos as they came in.

Please ask the Tribute recipient how it made him/her feel to receive their Tribute.

Suzanne: My husband felt very loved!  I think he was very surprised by how much he truly means to all of his family and friends.

Gratitude is the simplest path to a happy life. We’ll be the first to admit that with so much going on each day, it’s so easy to forget. That’s exactly why we created our #GratitudeStories feature. Each week our staff cuts together a one-minute highlight reel from an inspiring Tribute and tells the story behind it. We hope these videos serve as a little reminder to say the nice things in your head and celebrate your friends every single day.

As always, if you know someone special who deserves to be celebrated, we’re here to help you make it happen.

The most meaningful marathon gift is here!

https://www.tribute.co/runguides/

We’re excited to announce our partnership with RunGuides — a simple online directory that empowers runners by giving them the resources to get out and do what they love to do most…Run!

Their intuitive platform makes it easy for anyone to sign up for local running events, clubs and races. We love their simple platform that helps people get out and be healthy, but that’s not all. Like Tribute, Run Guides has a deeper mission to help their users establish meaningful connections with other like-minded runners. They have created a massive, value-based community of people who bond over their shared love of the world’s oldest sport.

3.24.2015

Here at Tribute, we couldn’t be more proud to support RunGuides and all that they stand for. With some avid runners on our internal team, we know first hand how tough any race or event can be. There’s a reason why marathons have been dubbed “Hell and back.” They take enormous amounts of courage and preparation to get through and although we can’t help on a physical level, we know that we can help inspire and encourage anyone who’s willing to take on the challenge with a meaningful marathon gift..and there’s not a more meaningful marathon gift than receiving a Tribute from family and friends before the big day.

Spring is right around the corner (well, after all this snow melts for us here in NY) and I’m sure you know someone gearing up for a big race or marathon. We’re here to help rally their community and truly show how loved and supported they are on their journey. Give them a Tribute with all of their friends and family telling them how proud they are of their accomplishments. No marathon gift will match up to the power of gratitude when they need it most.

Imagine your loved one in the middle of their race with a huge smile on their face as they recall all of the amazing messages from their community. Watch them stride in pride with a whole new type of energy, fueled by the love, support, and gratitude of their peers.

“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”

– G.K. Chesterton

For this week’s #GratitudeStory we’re thrilled to honor the Pearson Library out of Shelburne Vermont! Their Director reached out to us to help rally the local community to share stories surrounding their beloved Library. It’s great seeing people use Tribute in this way!

tribute-line

Why did you think it was a good idea for this person to receive a Tribute?

Lara (Director): It brought the community together in the midst of strife to express their appreciation for the Library during the holiday season. And how much of a positive impact it had brought to each and every one of us.

What is your favorite thing about this person?

Lara: The way the Pierson Library brings the community together. It is not only a safe haven for kids but also for adults and their family.

What were the circumstances when they received their Tribute? (ie. Where, When, How?)

Lara: We sent out the link via an email newsletter, placed it on our website, did paid advertising on Facebook, bought a 1/2 full-color ad in the local newspaper, announced it during a televised Selectboard meeting, and made a display in the Library.

What was their reaction while watching their Tribute?

Lara: The reaction of everyone were amazing. The community has expressed joy at the ability to share their story and listen to the stories of their neighbors.

How did this make you personally feel?

Lara: It felt amazing and humbling to hear everyone’s stories of appreciation. The library has always been a place for everyone to read, watch, and do other great activities.

Please ask the Tribute recipient how it made him/her feel to receive their Tribute.

Lara: Having to appreciate this wonderful library feels great. The community gathered to show their appreciation marks how the library is such a special place to our kids and to our families.

Gratitude Stories: Andrew’s 16th Birthday

“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have ignited the flame within us.”

Why did you think it was a good idea for this person to receive a Tribute?

To start off, Tribute gave him the opportunity to see how much he means to everyone.  It was a great way for everyone around him to reflect on what he means to them also! And that is the most amazing thing.

What is your favorite thing about this person?

Andrew has a loving heart, he is not only loved by me but by a lot of people. Andrew is an amazing well-rounded young man!

What were the circumstances when they received their Tribute? (ie. Where, When, How?)

We had his friends over, after a birthday dinner and played it for them.  We also played it for family gatherings for his birthday.

What was their reaction while watching their Tribute?

He was surprised and loved it.  I wasn’t sure if he would appreciate but I think it meant a lot to him.  Everyone enjoyed seeing how everyone contributed in their own unique way.

How did this make you personally feel?

I provided a gift that money can’t buy.  ❤ It meant the world to me to see what he means to everyone.  I never realized he had such a sense of humor!

Please ask the Tribute recipient how it made him/her feel to receive their Tribute.

Andrew loves the little things in life. I knew that making a Tribute for him would be one of the best things he’ll ever receive and that’s exactly what happened. He was so happy. He enjoyed seeing what everyone thought of him.  He was really surprised.

“The goal in marriage is not to think alike, but to think together.”   – Robert C. Dodds photo

We’re thrilled to introduce Taylor for this week’s Gratitude Story. Taylor reached out to commemorate Shea & Stephen before they tied the knot. There’s nothing we enjoy more than filling the happy couple with the love and support of their community before the big day. Enjoy!

tribute-line

Why did you think it was a good idea for this person to receive a Tribute?

Taylor (Friend): Marriage is a gift. It is so special to always be reminded of the gift, you’ll have for a lifetime, and the best way to do it is making another gift as special for them to remember – to remind both of them that they love each other and are loved by everyone around them!

What is your favorite thing about this person?

Taylor: Shea and Stephen are two amazing, fun-loving and goal-oriented individual and now partners to each other and of course as friends to me. A best friend to me for 15 years, Shea (most of the time) positive, always down to do whatever, incredibly caring personality.

What were the circumstances when they received their Tribute? (ie. Where, When, How?)

Taylor (Friend): This Tribute was one of a kind, not only have they received one of the best things in life, which is marriage. But had received another during their wedding reception on 12/30/2016.

How did this make you personally feel?

Taylor (Friend): I am truly overjoyed by the union, Shea and Stephen have been waiting for. Seeing my best friend Shea got married and knowing that she’s loved by a great man, I am absolutely contented and happy.

Please ask the Tribute recipient how it made him/her feel to receive their Tribute.

Taylor (Friend): Shea and Stephen were beyond grateful, shocked, thrilled and felt very loved and touched by the wonderful words.
