“Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance.”
– Samuel Johnson
Gratitude is the simplest path to a happy life. We’ll be the first to admit that with so much going on each day, it’s so easy to forget. That’s exactly why we created our #GratitudeStories feature. Each week our staff cuts together a one-minute highlight reel from an inspiring Tribute and tells the story behind it. We hope these videos serve as a little reminder to say the nice things in your head and celebrate your friends every single day.
For this week’s Gratitude story, we are delighted to introduce Isabel and her best friend/co-worker, Libby. Libby’s hard work and passion have led her to a 35-year career at Steelcase. Isabel reached out in need of some help to make this anniversary unforgettable…
Why did you think it was a good idea for this person to receive a Tribute?
Isabel (Best friend and Steelcase Co-worker): she doesn’t realize how many lives she touches in a positive way
What is your favorite thing about this person?
Isabel: My favorite thing about Libby is her enthusiasm, kindness, passion and her support for others.
What were the circumstances when they received their Tribute? (ie. Where, When, How?)
Isabel: We planned and created a surprise party after a training event in our region, people were gathered while she had no idea what’s about to go down.
What was their reaction while watching their Tribute?
Isabel: Everyone was waiting around for the Tribute to start playing, Libby was laughing and crying almost the whole time.
How did this make you personally feel?
Isabel: It made me feel like I’m my best friend’s personal hero. This was truly a gift you cannot wrap that will last forever.
Please ask the Tribute recipient how it made him/her feel to receive their Tribute.
Isabel: As shown in the photos, Libby was happy, laughing and teary-eyed. She then looked up after the last tribute and asked if anyone had a cigarette. Ha.
As always, if you know someone special who deserves to be celebrated, we’re here to help you make it happen. Now go forth and spread some love.
