For this week’s #GratitudeStory we’re thrilled to introduce Peggy and her daughter Maura. Yet another awesome teacher gets the credit she truly deserves. Teachers are often the unsung heroes and we are here to help change that.

Why did you think it was a good idea for this person to receive a Tribute?

Peggy (Mother): She moved to Shanghai, China, to work. The first few months of being so far away from family and friends can be difficult. We wanted her to know that we all love her and miss her.

What is your favorite thing about this person?

Peggy: My favorite thing about Maura, my daughter is her energy for a lifetime and learning and accepting new challenges that come her way.

What were the circumstances when they received their Tribute? (ie. Where, When, How?)

Peggy: We sent out the link via an email newsletter, placed it on our website, did paid advertising on Facebook, bought a 1/2 full-color ad in the local newspaper, announced it during a televised Selectboard meeting, and made a display in the Library.

What was their reaction while watching their Tribute?

Peggy: I received a tearful, grateful thank you via WeChat, and that was for all her family and friends who contributed to her Birthday Tribute.

How did this make you personally feel?

Peggy: I was thrilled that the Tribute allowed my daughter to know she was remembered and always will be remembered and loved no matter where she is living.

Please ask the Tribute recipient how it made him/her feel to receive their Tribute.

Peggy: “I’m crying right now!!!!  Thank you, Mama … I  loved it sooooo much! How did you end up organizing all that?”

tribute-lineGratitude is the simplest path to a happy life. We’ll be the first to admit that with so much going on each day, it’s so easy to forget. That’s exactly why we created our #GratitudeStories feature. Each week our staff cuts together a one-minute highlight reel from an inspiring Tribute and tells the story behind it. We hope these videos serve as a little reminder to say the nice things in your head and celebrate your friends every single day.

As always, if you know someone special who deserves to be celebrated, we’re here to help you make it happen.

Gratitude Stories: Kris & Brenna’s Wedding

“Love is the master key that opens the gates of happiness, of hatred, of jealousy, and, most easily of all, the gate of fear.”

– Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.

We love supporting newlyweds by allowing them to connect with the love and support of their entire community. Everything is easier when we have strong relationships to lean on and lift us up. This week’s gratitude story comes from Pamela, who wanted to do something special for her daughter after the wedding and contacted Tribute to surprise her daughter with something special. Watch the magic that ensues…

Why did you think it was a good idea for this person to receive a Tribute?

Pamela (Brenna’s Mom): This was a tribute from their wedding party, to add to the many wonderful memories this journey created.

What is your favorite thing about this person?

Pamela ( My daughter and new son-in-law are a pleasure to be around – they compliment each other so well, and know how to laugh with each other. They are able to key in on each other’s feelings, and provide strength and extra love when needed. I know that Kris will be there for my daughter, and that provides me with great comfort – knowing that I will not have to worry about her future. I enjoy being with them, and creating special memories.

What were the circumstances when they received their Tribute? (ie. Where, When, How?)

Pamela: Thanksgiving Day, 2016, with members of the wedding party. I presented the USB to them and we watched it together.

What was their reaction while watching their Tribute?

Pamela: Laughter, tears and smiles – joy!

Please ask the Tribute recipient how it made him/her feel to receive their Tribute.

Pamela: It was very sweet and made us feel loved by everyone that you would take the time to give us such a heartfelt message.
